From Modified Magazine... Infineon Raceway, formerly known as Sears Point, is one of the more dramatic racing circuits in America. As much as this track’s name makes us want to dress up like Buzz Lightyear and shout, “To Infineon and beyond!” the track itself makes us want to throw on our racing shoes and do our best Gary Sheehan impression around this twisty masterpiece carved into the hillside terrain of Sonoma’s wine country.

LIC Motorsports was back on the Time Attack scene at this past weekend’s Infineon Raceway/Global Time Attack (GTA) event Finals for 2011.  The event was held over the course of 2 days (Friday and Saturday) and it saw an array of interesting weather throughout.  Before LIC even made it to the event, they had the cards stacked against them…here is a brief rundown of the chaos and outcome.

As LIC Motorsports heads into the home stretch of completing the race car, lots has happened over the course of the last few weeks/months.  One of the major changes and hurdles has been to finally add power to the setup.  In the past we were one of the lower horsepower Subaru’s competiting in the field, which can be seen when another car with big power stretches its legs at a track like Willow Springs.  So we felt the need to at least get on par with others in our field.

LIC Motorsports ABS/Speedo Ring Spacers
LIC Motorsports is constantly looking to bring their knowledge of what they’ve learned in transforming a street car to a full blown track car to the masses.  Here is another part that was instrumental in being able to eradicate the common issues with inferior 5x100 wheel bearings used for track use.

GTA Inaugural Event at WSIR
This past weekend saw the LIC Motorsports crew back at its first race of the 2011 season. As many know the future of LIC racing this year looked very grim but after a new racing organization, Global Time Attack (GTA), approached LIC they decided to charge full force in preparation to make the event. With only about 5 weeks of time before the event the Levy boys went hard at work to make some subtle but efficient changes to the vehicle.

Following an impressive finish at the Redline Time Attack season opener, Takata Time Attack was anxious to carry the momentum to another strong finish in Las Vegas for Redline's second west coast event. The LIC Motorsports crew made small adjustments to the Takata Impreza prior to the event including a new set of Black and Green Rota wheels from Wheeldude to match the new livery, as well as a new Aeromotions widebody wing.

The week preceding the event date LIC Motorsports made the call to not attend this event due to our 3rd place last Redline Time Attack event (our suspension was not up to task for an unlimited class event) and quite frankly not being in a position to afford another 3 sets of tires. Aside from the money factor being a big issue; we started to develop braking issues at the last event and we were now fighting our braking bias being way off. We were hesitant knowing that Willow Springs is a very fast track and brakes would play a crucial role.
